So what really IS Garba & Bhangra Night?

GBN is a vision. An opportunity. It's a chance for every person to experience a drop in the ocean of the Indian culture - and for others to experience a different one. It's a place that anyone, particularly youth, can have a fun, exciting night out - without the hassle of convincing parents they're safe. And for parents, its evening without worry, knowing that their kids will be having fun, doing the right thing.

Garba is an Indian form of dance, originating from Gujurat, India. Garba involves dancing in concentric circles, where individuals dance rhythmically, gracefully bending from side to side, while making sweeping movements with their arms. Each movement usually ends in a clap. Garba is usually performed during the festival of Navaratri around a lamp or a deity.
Bhangra is a traditional Indian folk dance that has its roots in the villages of Punjab. Originally it was performed at the start of the harvest season, and is a very lively dance involving vigorous arm and leg actions. Bhangra is usually accompanied by the dhol (similar to a drum).

Its purpose is simple - to give maximum happiness, to the maximum number of people, for the maximum time. The Mission strives to spread and reveal the priceless knowledge of our heritage for everyone's benefit - but in a way that makes sense, that's relevant to us, and - the best part - that we can apply at every minute, of every day.
